Nourishing the Soul: For the Things You Do
As the Women’s Ministry Coordinator, I especially want women to be nourished by Grace. Grace empowers us to grow, to serve and to worship the Lord with all our hearts. The Women’s Leadership Team and I have worked to create a year full of events, studies and experiences that are relevant and nourishing. We want to fill you with good things because we know you, in turn, serve so many others!
Martha Rorem, Seasonal Celebration MCMy husband Dave and I are on the Worship Team and specialize in “welcoming and worshiping”. I would like to encourage you to join us for the five Seasonal Celebrations we have planned as we connect as Women of Grace. This year’s theme is “Nourishing the Soul” and hey, we will be treating you to a great meal with each Seasonal Celebration. You can find the dates of the upcoming Seasonal Celebrations in the Seasonal Celebration brochure in The Gathering Place at church or here on Seasonal Celebrations page of this website. Invite a friend! It’s a good way to start connecting. I’ll be looking for you there!
Nancy Johnson, Women’s Bible Study Advisor
Information to follow.
As a young mother I discovered the treasure of feeding my soul with the rich teachings of the Bible. For me, it became a lifeline to God as I raised my five children and rose to the challenge when God called our family to serve Him in Africa. While living overseas, I discovered no matter what the local cuisine, there is a feast for the soul in Scripture. My heart is with mothers of all ages who feed and tend to their children’s bodies and souls. Come join us twice a month as we fill you with good things so you can get back to doing the work God’s given you!
Kathy Stewart, Denominational LiaisonLadies, let us feed your body and your soul! We will start the year with our Women’s Fall Kick-off by learning fascinating facts about feeding a hungry family - eating the way God intended us to. And while I am talking about replenishing, there is a wonderful replenishing opportunity coming up with Triennial XIII, Reflecting God’s Glory, to be held July 22-25, 2010 in Washington D.C. Triennial is a Covenant Women’s Conference that happens once every three years. It is an eventful experience in the lives of those who come. It is a place to enjoy fellowship of the richest kind with women from all over the country and world. It is a time to worship God with fullness and joy. It is an opportunity to learn and grow and develop skills to strengthen your spiritual life, or to begin new life with Jesus Christ! It is a moment to relax, unwind, and to find joy and energy and peace in all of it. Visit the Triennial registration website: www.triennialxiii.org/register.php
Barb Hansen, Women’s Leadership AdvisorMy husband Ernie and I retired from Gig Harbor Covenant Church several years ago. Over the years, I’ve seen many women burn out because of their rigorous schedules as wives, mothers and employees. Women often get so busy that they forget to feed themselves so that they can be strong for the daily responsibilities of managing family and work life. Women you first need to feed yourself spiritually so that you have the strength to feed others. Let us care for you here at Grace.
Joyce Hancock, Mercy MealsMercy Me! Have you ever needed a home cooked meal that wafts of TLC? When people are sick, undergoing medical treatments, having a baby or in the midst of a family crisis, there is nothing like a home cooked meal to say you are being cared for. I am the person to call to arrange for that meal. I have a team of cooks who know how to nourish. Call me!
When was the last time you devoured a good book? We meet together monthly to talk about books we’ve read. Watch the newsletter for book selections, as well as dates and places when we meet . This year we are reading a smorgasbord of books. If you love to read, join us for a delicious time!
Diane Williams, Quilting for Babies Quilting Club Coordinator
Jesus said, “I have food that you don’t know about”. He was talking about serving others and that’s just what we do in the Grace’s Quilting for Babies Quilting Club. We meet twice a month to make quilts for the babies born to families here at Grace. It’s nourishing to work with our hands and to serve others in such a beautiful way. Don’t know how to quilt? We’ll teach you!
